So I believe today marks 30 days out from my first half marathon, and I have to say, I may be in a funk with training. It's hard to believe because I really love running. I think I may be doubting myself that I can actually run 13.1, I am so tired lately and work is just hectic all the time now. I can't seem to relax ever! I didn't get to run at all this week because of Issac and all of this mixed up has me in a funk...
I ran 9 miles today to make up for missing my runs this week. All in all it was a good run, but around mile 6 or 7 my stomach knotted up and I had to take some walking breaks.... I was not happy. I had a good run going, running with Mindy from Road Runner Girl and then I had to walk, ugh, REALLY?!? Yep! It was so humid and nasty today too, mentally it was not a great run for me or a couple of ladies running with me. A few of us struggled at one point or another.
This too shall pass! And I am confident that I am going to kick butt in my race. But I must admit sometimes it's hard to see through the self doubt and my stressed mind!
This is good news for my loyal blog followers though! One great way to get me out of a funk is to treat myself with something new. I have been blessed lately with some great companies sending me their awesome products to use for my training, write a review and I get to pass this on to my readers. These companies have graciously allowed me to do giveaways too!
I have quite a few giveaways to do right now, so for the 1 month leading up to my first ever half marathon, I am going to have a weekly giveaway of the products I have been using to fuel my runs!! Free Swag time people!!!
Want a little hint? Stay on TOP of it, by checking back tomorrow, it is SUNDAE and the first giveaway will be going live!!
Girl do NOT get down on yourself! You are doing AWESOME in your training! Some runs are just not good. I had to walk on the same route we did today when we did it a few weeks ago. It happens...and it's perfectly ok! Learn from it and know the next run will be much better! You had several factors that may have caused your yucky run today...different food before and not being able to run all week. Those things can make a run harder. Be proud! You are almost a half marathoner and I have all the confidence in the world that you are going to ROCK that race!!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Mindy, you always build me up and inspire me!!
DeleteI went through the exact same thing today. Didn't finish the run and had to walk. This injury is really getting me down too. I am trying to remind myself of all the positive stuff though.
ReplyDeleteSo - You are awesome, inspiring, a great runner, and look way younger than I do so I have no clue how you have kids. You are good to go girl!
You're funny Abby! I guess we all have days of funk! You are awesome and inspiring too! And I so do not look younger than you! Thanks for the encouragement. I hope your running mojo returns soon. I am running 3.1 in the morning, send good vibes my way!
DeleteGood luck for the 3.1 tomorrow! Just enjoy it :-)
ReplyDeleteWe all have shitty runs. I was reading rUnladylike's Daily Mile entyr the other day. She inspires me - super fit, and she's doing a tri. On her last longish run she had to walk to. It happens to all of us!
we all have crappy runs and days where we are not 100% there. But going out there and having a bad run sure beats not going out there at all. you are going to rock your race For sure!
